What I'm interested in:
- Chadderton Historical Society
I am Chairman of our local Historical Society. We have just completed our latest publication which is due out in about two months time. It is a pictorial History of Chadderton with over 200 old photographs showing many social,Civic,religeous events Etc. We are also hopeing to have our own Heritage Centre soon when we have completed out discussions with our local council. We meet at Chadderton Central Library usually on the first Thursday of each month at 7.30pm. Our yearly programme is made up of Lectures/Slide shows, research work, visits, walks and of course the usual party around Christmas/New year. We have trebled our membership over the past 5 years and consider ourselves to be one of the more active Local Historical Societies in our area.
- Church Music
I am Organist & Choirmaster at St Luke's Parish Church {C of E} Chadderton a post I have held for nearly 22 years. I have a great love for Cathedral/Church music. We have a fine 3 manual Pipe Organ here at St Luke's cleaned and restored only in 1986. I have managed to play on magnificent instruments such as Westminster Abbey, Liverpool Cathedral, Birmingham St Chads RC Cathedral, Notra Dame - Paris, and many other fine organs usually on our visits with our local Organists Association.
- Camera Club
I am also Secretary/Treasurer of a small Camera Club at our Church, St Luke's Chadderton. We have a membership of about 16 and we meet each month for Lectures/slide shows and visits out.
